Y-chromosome DNA testing is often used when it is not possible to perform a paternity test between the child and the alleged father, and in other complicated family relationships where there is uncertainty about paternity. Y-chromosome DNA testing indirectly establishes whether a child is related to the putative father's brothers or other male individuals who share a common paternal lineage.<\/p>\n
In paternal terms, where it is not possible to test the presumed biological father, a Y-chromosome DNA test cannot distinguish the direct family relationship between the tested individuals, but the product does accurately distinguish whether or not the tested individuals share the same paternal lineage.<\/p>\n
